Rolfe C. McCoy, DMD

Rolfe C. McCoy DMD graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1978. He attended Washington University in St. Louis receiving a BA in Biology in 1982 and a DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) degree in 1985.

Dr. Rolfe C. McCoy joined his father Dr. William Chadwick McCoy, after graduation the summer of 1985. They practiced at 511 Elm Street in Chillicothe. This was the location of the original office. Dr. Chad McCoy opened his practice in 1954. In 1986 the practice took the name McCoy Dental Clinic. It continues the practice name until 2007 when it changes to McCoy and Samples Dental Clinic, with the addition of Dr. Stuart Samples. In 2016 Dr. David Mattingly became the newest Partner with MSDC. This has brought the new name McCoy Samples and Mattingly Dental Clinic.

The Doctors of MSMDC are all very active in organized Dentistry. Dr. Rolfe McCoy has held numerous offices in the Local, State and national dental organizations. He is a past President of the Northwest Dental Society, a delegate to the MDA for many years, a Delegate to the ADA, and the Northwest dental district’s Trustee to the Board of Trustees of the Missouri Dental Association. He is involved in training/educating dental assistants under the expanded functions (EFDA) program developed by the MDA. Dr. McCoy is a fellow in the International College of Dentists (ICD), appointed in 1992. He was also appointed to the American College of Dentists in 1999.

In 1999, Governor Carnahan of Missouri appointed Dr. Rolfe McCoy to the Missouri Dental Board. He served a five-year term and was again appointed by then Governor Matt Blunt to a second five-year term ending in 2009. The Missouri Dental Board is the regulatory board for dentistry in the state of Missouri.

Through the dental board Dr. McCoy became a dental examiner for both WREB, CRDTS and ADEX. He is currently employed by CDCA which is another testing agency that administers board exams for dental schools in the U.S., Mexico and Jamaica. He is frequently traveling to these dental schools in the spring and early summer to help conduct Dental Board exams to graduating dental students.

Locally, Dr. McCoy has been active in many civic organizations. He is a past president of Rotary, Chillicothe Chamber of Commerce, Chillicothe Fine Arts Council, and the Chillicothe Public Works (currently serving). He has served on the YMCA Board, Local Tour of Missouri Committee as Ancillary Committee Co-Chairman and the Greenhill’s Cycling Foundation.

Dr. McCoy has been doing dental mission work in Jamaica since 2013 on an annual basis. He is also constructing a permanent dental clinic in the Dominican Republic with the help of the Orlando, FL Catholic Diocese. 

He is a third Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, a member of the BPOE Elks, and a member of St. Columbans Catholic Church. 

He is married to Julie Maupin McCoy, also a native of Chillicothe. They have three daughters, Emily McCoy Mattingly, Heidi Pryor, and Maggie McConville. They also have three granddaughters and two grandsons with 2 more grandchildren arriving early 2024.
